What are Bodies Exhibits, Who Should (or Should Not) Visit Them

If you are looking for some unusual activities or experience you should definitely visit a body exhibition. But be warned! This is definitely not an exhibit that is suitable for those of a queasy disposition, or those easily upset.

What Is It?

A body exhibit is a display of real human bodies that have been preserved and dissected in various ways to show the intricate workings of our forms. You can see skeletons, bodies with the skin removed to show the musculature and circulatory systems, dissected organs, and the reproductive system, including different stages of fetal development. You were warned! This certainly is not an exhibit for the faint of heart or squeamish.

Where Do the Bodies Come From?

The exhibit displays human remains of Chinese citizens or residents which are originally received by the Chinese Bureau of Police. They were donated to Premier Exhibitions Incorporated by the Chinese government. These cadavers supposedly belonged to people who had no close relatives to claim the bodies. The bodies may, however, have come from Chinese prisons, and since this cannot be dis-confirmed, human rights activists have raised some ethical concerns.

How Are the Bodies Preserved?

The bodies are preserved through an innovative 'polymer preservation' method. The exhibit starts with a video introduction explaining this complex process, which involves all water/liquid being removed from the bodies before they are put in liquid silicone and a vacuum chamber, then dried and permanently preserved.

Who Should Visit this Museum?

The exhibit is uniquely able to provide an amazing insight into the intricate workings of our human bodies. It will be of interest to many who have a yearning to learn more about our physical forms. It can be of immeasurable value to those who are studying medical science or training to be a physician, and to anyone with an interest in human biology.
While those of all ages can visit the museum, parents should consider their own individual children and the gruesome sights they will be seeing before deciding to take younger kids into the exhibit.
Some scientifically minded or curious children will love this exhibit, and of course will learn a lot from it. But for others, it can simply be upsetting. Parents will know their own children, and be able to make a decision about whether or not a family visit will be appropriate.

In Conclusion

Personal character will also play a part in determining whether adults should go to this exhibit too. Some are fascinated, while others are simply appalled and repulsed. Some adults may also have ethical qualms, and decide not to visit this museum. Again, while truly amazing for some, this is most definitely not an exhibit that everyone will enjoy.
